Q. What is certified translation?

Certification of translation in Ukraine is an affidavit of translation accuracy stated by professional translator accompanied by corporate seal of translation agency and attached to the translation, meaning translator's personal responsibility for the content.

If the document has to be accepted by some Ukrainian organization, most likely you will be required to notarize your certified translation by Ukrainian Notary Public.


Q. Why do I need certified translations?

To use your documents legally in Ukraine, your documents shall be translated into Ukrainian language, certified and notarized in Ukraine.


Q. Do I need to obtain apostille for Ukraine?

Apostille is one of the "authentication" methods. If documents are to be presented to official Ukrainian organizations, you would most likely be required to obtain Apostille in your country for validating your documents in Ukraine. More on "authentication" and Apostilles you can read

Q. Can I translate my documents intended for Ukraine domestically, not in Ukraine?

Actually you can. Translations can be verified by Ukrainian Consul, who has legitimate power of Ukrainian Notary Public.

Disadvantages of this solution:

- the costs for this service are too high;
- processing time is long;
- you have to appear in person in Consulate;

In other case, foreign notary certification is not valid in Ukraine. And translations (certifications/notarizations) have to be performed in Ukraine.

Plain certification (affidavit of translation accuracy, company seal but without notarial certification) can be produced with just the photocopies of your documents sent by e-mail.
